White Coppice Cricket Club’s campaign to raise £150,000 has received its biggest donation to date.
Manchester-based THG Ingenuity – which has recently undergone a demerger – has contributed £1,000 to the fundraiser.
The donation took the total amount raised so far to an impressive £3,214.
The campaign has attracted the support of rival cricket clubs and leading figures from the world of business.
It has also been featured extensively in the media, including BBC Sounds.
White Coppice 1st XI captain Jake Smalley said: “We were all stunned when we saw the £1,000 donation from THG Ingenuity drop into our account.
“White Coppice Cricket Club means a lot to all the players and the community but it’s lovely to see how much it means to other people as well.
“The £1,000 donation was amazing but the £10s and £20s all make a difference.”
THG Ingenuity was founded by entrepreneur Matt Moulding.
Founded in 1875, the club is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2025 but has been hit with a £29,000 bill to repair a leaking septic tank that services their clubhouse.
The club, which has two Saturday teams in the Palace Shield League, also want to install proper training facilities to help attract new players and introduce a junior division.
Legendary England spinner Graeme Swann shared details of the campaign with his 886k followers on ‘X’.
“We’ve still got a long way to go and people can contribute via our GoFundMe page, which has an initial target of £16,000.”
