The curtain may have come down on a record-breaking CoppiceFest 2025 – but the memories created will live on.
The promised heatwave may not have arrived – especially during a sometimes rainy Saturday and Sunday – but in every other respect the four-day festival delivered.
This year was the fourth running of CoppiceFest and one of the centrepieces of the club’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Visitors travelled from far and wide and were treated to a mix of live music, comedy, face painting, good food and four cricket matches – all washed down by a variety of ales, cider, gin and rum.
On Saturday night, comedian Steve Royle, who came third in Britain’s Got Talent in 2020, gave up his time for free to entertain the crowds.
Sunday’s game against MCC was marked by a live performance of Maelstrom, an all-male singing ensemble.
A spokesman for CoppiceFest’s organisers said: “It’s been a record-breaking event and a fitting celebration of the club’s 150th anniversary.
“The ground was a picture and we nearly sold out of cask ales, with all 14 beers sponsored by local companies and breweries.
“Players were queuing up to volunteer and it was lovely to see so many former players attending across the four days.
“I’d especially like to mention Steve Royle. He lives in Chorley and literally jumped off a plane to give up his time for free and entertain the crowds.
“The cricket was always entertaining and the MCC game on Sunday was just brilliant.
“As well as raising much-needed funds for the cricket club, CoppiceFest also showcased what we’re about and brought the community together. It was perfect.”
