White Coppice Cricket Club has never looked better thanks to a team of volunteers from Serco.
While both the club’s 1st and 2nd XI teams are pushing for promotion on the field, the ground has also been given a welcome facelift off it.
The volunteer day was led by White Coppice stalwart Tom Bramhall, who was joined by colleagues Alan, Kris, Caroline and Keith.
Together, the team installed a new French drain, replaced rotten fencing, and trimmed the grass around the pitch and clubhouse.
Bramhall said: “My workplace offers us a day to give back to the community.
“I love the cricketing family that is White Coppice Cricket Club, so it was brilliant to be able to bring my talented work colleagues to the picturesque place where I like to spend my summers.

“It was brilliant to utilise the property maintenance skills my colleagues have, put them to good use and improve the club for the community.”
Keith also donated £50 of his own money to buy gravel for the Palace Shield club.
He said: “I often park here to go running. It feels brilliant to give back to the club.”
Fresh from helping dig a trench for the new French drain, Alan added: “It’s a beautiful place. I think I’m falling in love with it.”

White Coppice 1st XI captain Jake Smalley thanked the volunteers for their efforts.
He said: “Massive thanks to Tom and his Serco colleagues for another monumental effort.
“It’s not the first time Serco have helped the club and we’re hugely grateful.
“People don’t always realise that White Coppice is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and maintaining the ground is a time-consuming job. That’s why we’re indebted to the efforts of Serco.”
