White Coppice Cricket Club’s £150k fundraising campaign has reached the airwaves of Bolton FM.
The club’s longest-serving player Chris Maguire was interviewed by presenter Peter Johnson for the station’s evening sports show.
Maguire said: “It was great to be able to spread the word about the situation at White Coppice.
“Bolton FM is a multi-award-winning community radio station and, like White Coppice, relies exclusively on volunteers. It was nice to be able to share our story.”
The club’s GoFundMe campaign now stands a £3,779 following a donation of £150 from James Cole, CEO of Chorley-based Panache Cruises.
The club has also been boosted by a donation of £5,000 from United Utilities after being hit by a £29,000 bill to repair a leaking septic tank that serves the clubhouse.
The cricket club is trying to raise £150,000 in its 150th anniversary year, which will also be used to install proper training facilities to help attract new players and introduce a junior division.
