White Coppice Cricket Club’s ground has been given a new look thanks to a group of volunteers from Places for People.
Places for People is the UK’s leading social enterprise and as part of their volunteering day, seven members of staff came down to the ground to fix a long list of maintenance jobs.
As well as repairing a section of drystone wall that had been damaged by a fallen tree, the volunteers carried out lots of strimming, cut several low-hanging branches, painted the fences and back of the clubhouse where it was looking particularly tired.
If that wasn’t enough, they even donated £100 to purchase paint and brushes.
Kieran Grogan, customer service manager at Places for People said: “We love to give back and be out in the community helping as much as possible.

“We are involved in many projects around the country and we truly believe that community matters, which is embedded into our people promises.
“We chose White Coppice Cricket Club as 2025 is their 150th anniversary year and we wanted to help the community enjoy and celebrate this amazing achievement.
“We left feeling accomplished and grateful for this wonderful opportunity.”
The day was co-ordinated by White Coppice player Tom Bramhall, who praised Places for People.
He said: “They did an amazing job and didn’t stop until the job was done.
“The work was carried out in time for our CoppiceFest and a lot of visitors said the club had never looked better.”
